Visible Sound Audible Images
When we hear sounds, images are drawn in our minds. When we see something, sounds begin to ring in our heads. Sound is connected to image, and image is connected to sound.
Visible Sound Audible Images is a 100-second video collage that reminds us of this relationship. Throughout the piece, sound and image overlap, mix, and disappear, constantly shifting the way we perceive them.
We see with our ears and hear with our eyes. Perhaps there is no such thing as “invisible sound” or “inaudible images” in this world.
어떤 소리를 들으면 우리 머릿속에는 어떤 이미지가 그려집니다. 어떤 이미지를 보면 머릿속에는 소리가 울립니다. 소리는 이미지를, 이미지는 소리를 연상시킵니다.
보이는 소리 들리는 이미지는 소리와 이미지의 연관성을 영상 콜라주를 통해 전달하는 작업입니다. 약 100초 동안 진행되는 영상 속에서 소리와 이미지는 서로 겹쳐지거나 뒤섞인 채 나타나고 사라지기를 반복합니다.
무언가를 보면 소리가 들리고, 들으면 무언가가 보입니다. 우리는 눈으로 듣고, 귀로 봅니다. 어쩌면 이 세상에는 ‘보이지 않는 소리’나 ‘들리지 않는 이미지’는 존재하지 않을지도 모릅니다.
